Roll Bench
This little Light of Mine
Hanging close to home
Roll Bench explores the concept of evolving furniture - seating that can be changed to accommodate more use as and when it is required. The design starts as a flat bench, the surface of which can be rolled to change the seating arrangements, allowing users to communicate and negotiate the space with each other. the seating to reveal the bright and suggestive surfaces, allowing people to negotiate the space with other users.
This Little Light of Mine explores family members absence from the home, challenging users to look at how long they spend away from the home and family. The design is a rechargeable light that emits a comforting glow and attaches to their front door key – a symbolic object of the home. The Light will glow for a certain amount of time when away from home, only being able to recharge when they return. This evokes a connection between a family even when away from one another, allowing them to gain sense of belonging.
Hanging Close to Home is a coat rack that explores the daily cycle of people hanging up and taking down their coats. As more hooks are occupied, the intensity of the light grows. Taking reference from family trees and totems the design becomes much more then a coat rack, communicating, through light, how many people are in the house.

The wrist garment, Lock, keeps the users front door key securely in place and close to the body. Giving them a sense of safety and security when travelling away from home by giving them a similar ritual to locking your front door at night.
Ice Light explores and exploits the material properties of ice and heat to create an outdoor mood lighting. The silicon base to the prototype collects the water as the ice melts which can then be placed into the freezer to create a continuous cycle.
